Jim Bryan (Co-Founder/Sr Living SME)

Jim Bryan is a former Pennsylvania Personal Care Home Administrator who began his professional healthcare career as a teenager in 1998 in Long Island, New York in a setting commonly known as an ‘orphanage’ as a direct care worker. From there, the caregiving work carried him to Las Vegas where he supervised a group home for adolescents. The journey then delivered him to South Central Pennsylvania in 2012 and to yet another residential psychiatric setting as Night Supervisor, Case Manager, and Program Manager. In 2017 Jim took on the role of Executive Director at a large retirement community. Along the way he’s trained and cultivated caregivers and leaders using decades of refined methods and mindset. In the caregiving world where professionals hear “more of the same” at trainings and seminars, Jim brings a unique voice and perspective on the culture of care communities that helps individuals connect with empathy in an actionable manner. Jim holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, is an instructor of Pennsylvania’s certification course for Personal Care Home Administrators, and has conducted programs at workshops, seminars, and conferences. Jim’s passion for stand-up comedy goes back to his childhood. Enamored with stand-up comedian’s presence from a very young age, Jim started performing himself in 2002 and has performed all over the county at some of the most recognized clubs. In 2018 he opened Church of Satire Comedy Club in Hanover, PA and the brand has continued to grow and expand its reach ever since, all while creating a comedy community in South Central PA that never existed prior. Using this constellation of experience as a care worker, manager, executive, comedian, and business owner, Jim continues to council others on building healthy community cultures based on dignity, respect, and promoting others.

Lon Kieffer (Co-Founder/Public Speaker Specialist)

Lon Kieffer, RN, BSN, MBA, NHA, "retired" as a professional comedian in 1984... and "let humor work" as he became a widely respected expert on Caregiver Leadership in the Senior Living Industry!

Present day, Lon and a team of chosen professional Comics are "EnterTraining" residents, their guests and the professionals that serve them in the "55+ Community" with Clean Stand Up Comedy! Each comedian involved has committed to and taken a “Continuing Care Retirement Comic” pledge!

  • No Politics! – as a reference; not as a personal stance!
  • No Profanity! – no shock value or vulgarity
  • No Punching Down! – age related humor ok; age-ism is not!
  • No Piling On! – the comic will “read the room” and move on! CCRC Pledge

As a professional LaftRx comic working in the Senior Living industry I acknowledge that I will be performing for and before a “retired audience” that are generally “55-plus!” and differs from a “mature audience” as per the LaftRx “Mature Humor” ratings standards.

As a LaftRx comic I believe in the value of respectfully sharing references and observations designed to allow for a “healthy understanding of matters others recognize” amongst the “retired audience” target market and their guests; and those serving in the Senior Living Industry. As a LaftRx comic our intent is always to create a positive culture and community through laughter and to never be offensive for shock value. As with any attempt at humor; some participants my take offense, but this should be a very rare and isolated occurrence.

Caregiver!

Lon Kieffer, is a Registered Nurse, that has enjoyed a successfully forty year career in healthcare. Concentrating mostly on the Senior Living Industry he has been recognized for his servant leadership and natural use of humor to achieve industry leading occupancy, survey history, recruitment and retention through a strategy of engaging, retaining and attracting teams with a “healthy understanding” and appreciating of a positive/caring culture and community. His experience as a former professional comedian allowed him to become a highly sought after speaker in the senior living industry and Caregiver Advocate known as the “Defender of Caregivers”

Comic!

Lon Kieffer is a Professional Comedian, that has embraced the more challenging path of being a Clean Comic. As a man of a certain age himself, his observational humor regarding shifting priorities, capabilities and interests has allowed him to become widely known as the “Retired Comic” as he has created a genre of comedy for “Retired Audiences” that has proven successful in traditional comedy clubs presenting to mainstream audiences as well as private/corporate events in the Senior Living Industry. This unique approach allows residents’ (current and prospective), their families, and those that serve them to enjoy the community building bond achieved through an experience of shared humor.

As a comedian, he's toured all over the country and opened for names like Dan St. Germain (Comedy Central), Brian McDaniel (TMZ), Adam Dodd (HBO'S East Bound and Down), Steve Hofstetter (host of Fox's Laughs), Mark Riccadonna (SiriusXM, SNL), and Brooks Whelan (Saturday Night Live). You've also seen him as a sleazy salesperson in the nationally syndicated Mattress Warehouse commercial! Stefan is a storyteller who loves interacting with his crowd-drawing inspiration from the everyday life of his audience, as well as his own.

Born in Parkville, MD, otherwise known as the Motherland of Milk and Honey. He studied at Calvert Hall High School, before moving on to the renowned West Virginia University. It was at West Virginia that his education truly blossomed. He met many Rednecks, alcoholics, and generally obese people that loved his trademark wit and charm. He was strongly encouraged there to pursue a career in comedy. His travels later brought him home to the Motherland, where he landed a job as a Bartender at a local watering hole, Souris Saloon. There, he met many yuppies, alcoholics, and generally thin people that loved his trademark wit and charm. He was again strongly encouraged to pursue a career in Comedy. It was at this juncture that he came across Eric Jolicoeur and expressed his strong desire to Eric that he desired a career in comedy and entertainment. The two formed the powerhouse comedy super label Big Timing Comedy, LLC and the rest my friends....is history. Stefan enjoys all things Baltimore sports and a nice strong beverage. So, please, drop him a line on the twitter @stefansubotich or come out and support his unique brand of highly offensive comedy.
